How To Collect a Hair Sample From Your Pet...

Collecting a clipping of hair from your furry friend can sound like a challenging task. Of course the most obvious way would be to use a small pair of scissors or clippers.

Where you are clipping your pet yourself it is recommended to select a more discreet area such as the hindquarters near the tail.

Other ways of collecting hair would be to pull it from their brush, you could ask your groomer* to keep a sample back for you (taking a small zip lock bag with your pets name on it will make this easier) or should it be a more upsetting circumstance your vet* may also be willing to collect a small clipping for you.

Any hair unused will be returned with your finished item(s).

*Where you are asking a third party to take a hair clipping on your behalf it is recommended that you discuss this with them prior to you appointment where possible - For example your groomer may recommend an appointment time which is more convenient to take the time to do this for you.

Collecting Hair From Your Horse...

Tail Hair - Suitable for horsehair bracelets and pendants.

Select a section of hair from the middle of the length of tail towards the back  where it's more discreet, find the top of the section and trim. Doing this ensures you have plenty of strands with length long enough to complete your bracelet.

Grabbing a section from the top risks gathering shorter, unusable strands of hair.

Body Hair - Suitable for pendants. This can be gathered during grooming by gathering from their brush or during clipping* and seal in a zip-lock bag.

Mane Hair - Suitable for pendants. This can be gathered during grooming by gathering from their brush, when pulling their mane or during clipping* and seal into a zip-lock bag.

Don't worry if your hair requires washing, this is included in the service.

Where the hair is white please be aware that although every effort will be made to remove stains this isn't always possible, if you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
